Credit Limit went up without me applying for it. Why?

I'm not griping, just curious. I recieved my credit card from Capital One toward the end of 2010, I am trying to establish credit. I just went online to see my balance and my credit limit has went up from $500 to $750..why is this? Does it mean i'm in good credit standing?
